For years I worked in the IT industry traveling around the country as an Implementation Project manager for a software development company then later for a Fortune 500 Company, and when I was not on the road I worked from home, in my pajamas, or shorts (depending on whether it was winter or summer). That was 2 to 3 weeks out of every month that I was a high level, corporate employee working as a telecommuter! As a matter of fact, when I went to work for the Fortune 500 Company, I did not meet my boss or any of my co-workers until I traveled to the West Coast, THREE MONTHS after my first day of employment!

About 2 years ago, that Fortune 500 Company, who shall remain nameless but who was heavily tied into the Real Estate Industry, in California no less, ran 3 waves of massive layoffs. I was in wave 2. Well, I drew unemployment, had my resume professionally done, applied for countless jobs, went to a professional marketing coach to learn how to sell myself, spoke to hundreds of head hunters, went on countless job interviews, and joined all the right organizations. There is a long list of things you are supposed to do to find a new job, and I did them all!

When no job was forthcoming from my efforts, I decided to start my own business. But what to do? Being a Geek, it was natural for me to turn to the internet. I was already looking for telecommuting positions, and although things like home based order taker and survey taker came up, I searched for several months before I came upon the Virtual Assistance Industry. It was a perfect fit for me!

Having had my fill of the corporate world, I was determined to give my business a name that would attract really great people to contract with. I was so thoroughly turned off by the buzz words from the jobs I had been applying to, you know those phrases like dynamic, fast paced, dada, dada, which ultimately means you are going to be working your tail off with very little training and no go-to person to rely on. I wanted people in my life that were determined to ENJOY their work, and wanted to enjoy ME.

That is when my great new business was born, with the coolest name in town! And true to my intention, my first contract was with a doctor from Chandler, Arizona who is not only a great person to work with, but a great person to know. Doc and I have not met, but we speak (or email) nearly every day. I GET him, I absolutely know what he wants to do with his business from the point of view of how he wants to use my services, and how best I can be of service to him. Great thing is, although I advertised bookkeeping, transcription, word processing, and the usual office administrative tasks, Doc hired me to create and monitor his email campaigns and Newsletters, and to distribute myriad articles he writes to the free Ezine article websites (generating a ton of free advertising). I'm having a great time!

I'm learning tons of new things, my unique niche is being developed, my creativity is being utilized, and the best part is I am having a great time. For years I have been huge into vitamins, minerals, herbs, organic foods, and alternative medicine. Just so happens, Doc is a holistic physician, a naturopath! Can you believe that, this job, this association, could not be more suited for me, and every day it is servicing my desire to become a Specialized VA.

About now, you are probably saying Ok, so what is your point? Point is, you can do it too. I am not more special than the next person. But I am special like everyone. I absolutely GET that I deserve to be happy about everything in my life, and especially to enjoy my work. I intend to find enjoyment in everyone I work with, so I do. I decided on this job on purpose. I like my work, so I am not driven by a search for a get-rich-quick scheme, although if ya have some cash you want to give away I will be happy to give it a temporary home! If you are looking for your next adventure, think about parlaying your skills into a Virtual Job. In the world of Virtual Assistants, there are webmasters, and paralegals, bookkeepers, and talent booking agents assistants, even Virtual Real Estate Transaction Assistants. Just about any job any one used to go into an office to do can be done virtually in our high tech world.

A website costs about $10 to $12 dollars a month, Ezine articles as advertising tools cost zip. If you are unemployed, or just want to start your own business, Google Virtual Assistant, or Virtual Office Assistant. You will find lots of organizations from your search, just join them all! And for Heavens sake, HAVE FUN!

There are actually legitimate telecommuting jobs on the internet. But mixed in with those are scams that people should avoid. Any offers that promise big money for the cost of a book or kit that they will send you are not really legitimate telecommuting jobs. It is a way for someone to sell you their products or services. There are many such ploys out there so be aware when you look for this type of job. There are companies and people that are marketing their products not looking for real employees. Some companies sell you a newsletter listing job openings this is usually legitimate and may be worthwhile depending on the cost and how often they send it out. Before you pay for a newsletter find out if anyone else has ever heard of it and the results that received using it.

Tulips, windmills and wooden shoes might still be a draw to this Dutch region for some travelers; however, Holland is a far more versatile locale with an international and maritime history extending farther back than most of the rest of Europe, including the establishment of New Amsterdam as a major trading city, which became New York when the British took over. Holland, particularly Amsterdam, is also well known for its diamond manufacturing and polishing industry. If that tickles your fancy,
